Jig heads

Several varieties in progress. What do you think about it?

Crappie jigs too.

Seafood circle.

These are my Shrimp Eye prototype. 1/16 0z. head. Bounce over shells or under a cork. Will trade for unpainted lead jig heads. ?? I’ll do a trading post on other forum soon.

This is the best Trout plastic I’ve ever used. Notice the horizontal “flap tail” I have 3 left and cannot find them anywhere. I’ll go in on the molding cost if someone can convince the Zman to elasticize it. See, the greatness of the bait is it’s main problem. The tail gets ate quick by everything in the water. Need that elastic for durability. I kid you not, it’s the best dadgum trout bait since boiled peanuts. Any body got some? Let me know… Riverside Croaker Tail.

It flopped in the market place originally. I don’t think anyone will beat at your door for the opportunity to resurrect it. I’m not saying it won’t catch fish, but it has already seen it’s day in the big box stores.

Dadgum, being an avid lure maker myself, I always like seeing what others are doing. Your heads look real good IMO. I like the variety of eyes you’re using.

Can’t help you with those plastics however, never used them. But, if I see any I’ll let you know.

Gambler makes a fluke style plastic they call a FlappN Shad, that had a wide tail. I’ve done real good with them at times fishing for bass & Striped Bass, so I understand why you like those old Riverside shrimp. Sometimes, you need something that moves a lot & moves a lot of water.

Thanks Jim, I’d like to see some of yours as well, maybe some trading. I’ve got time to develop. Not get rich. So Sharing is my angle on this medium. Although, I’d put some $$ behind gettin’ that croakertail made. I’ll look up the flappin shad.

Rad, I agree. Just puttin’ it out there. Who knows? It’s awesome though.

Hey Rad, Some say heads, some say tails, some say eyes. Check out theses modifies. “fluke mullet”, “fluke shrimps”, “rear view paddles”. All with the “comin’ and goin’ concept”. All have caught. Reds love the mullet. Shrimp kills the Specs.

Here they are.

Jim, As you probably know, You have to scrub the grub for the glue to stick! have fun with em’.

Big Jim, As the rhinestones or crazy eyes add buoyancy to whichever area of the bait they are attached, I have found that the crazy eyes really lift up the tail of the paddle tail well, creating more movement at a slower retrieve.
If you use them as eyes and on tail with a wire hook/1/16 head, the standard 4in. plastic will significantly slow it’s fall with the paddle still moving. Great for slack tide.

Go drop the dime on the mold (existing or new), and any plastic manufacturer would be happy to pour all you want. Minimum quantities would apply, of course.

Yea rad, I’ve heard the figures on the big end. I guess if I’m fishin’ for a maker, it’s private party by the dozed or so, unless one of the big boys bit on it. I’ll extend a reasonable $ for such. But I sure couldn’t justify 10K for dinner.
I wouldn’t turn down some trickle down development fee for charity, but I’m not in it for $. Holler if you know someone who would do it small time.

For anyone new to the subject… I fish primarily with fresh bait. Artificial is a challenge. And I enjoy it.
Scent, vibration, visual. Are 3 in a row. You can mix em’ up in any fashion based on current, visibility,h20, on and on. But. Smell rules in most cases.
If you want to get decent at artificial bait, try the following.

Get a variety of commonly used plastics in your zone. Chum generously on the up-current mouth of a creek, while anchored approx. 40 ft. from the mouth at a degree allowing your bait to bounce down to the chum concentration in the downstream flow. Eddy back swirls are the best target.

You can graph all you want and spook the schools, but mouth jumpin’ is the key.

Once you have found them, it’s up to math, as to the lure of choice for the environment.

If any Trout are feeding off that creek mouth, you will be able to test your baits.

Here’s a tool.

My jig heads are not anything special. They’re very basic styles.
I like adding the eyes, but so far have stuck with those I’ve painted, or the stick-on flat or 3D eyes.

Here’s some that I’ve made & tied. I don’t have any pics of heads, except raw lead.

The majority of these were made for chasing Striped Bass. I’ll post a few more later.
