Jig Minnow Color

Arti question: If black/purple/blue is best in dark light/water and can be seen in clear water/bright light conditions…why would I use/buy anything else?

Anybody notice a difference? Maybe trout on an electric chicken but does that even matter?

Not sure exactly what you are getting at here… but as a rule of thumb I’ve always learned that clearer lures for clearer water and darker lures for darker water. Not saying I haven’t ever caught fish on the opposite of each color per condition, but the rule usually holds true as far as I can tell. As far as not using anything else, well, if you limit yourself to one or the other colors then you will likely limit yourself to less fish catching. When I fish I like to start off with at least 2 dif type and colors\types of lures to see if one is more desired than the other. Usually one will start producing better than the other and we focus on the type\color lure. Same thing with live baits, I typically run 2 or 3 different depths of bobbers and one on the bottom just to see where they are most actively feeding and go from there. Each trip has its own learning curve as far as I can tell. Just have to keep trying and see what does best for that day.
I hope this helps.

I go with natural presentations in clear water and dark water. I know what different bait looks like in each condition so I try to match it. Dirty brown water makes shrimp whiter so I use a whiter profile than and in clear water they are clear, strong current makes them get a pink tint and red legs. The same goes for mullet, moving mullet in clear water are a lot more silver and white, while in darker water or when they are hidding on the bottom they are darker. Glass minnows anchovies and rain bait all are clear with a white to purple tint or shine. Clear conditions go clearer, darker conditions I use a shiny more tinted clear bait. Right now to spring I use the glass minnow imitations from 2 inches to a full size original trout trick. The original trout trick will slay them this time of year in lower light conditions.

Electric chicken. Ben around forever and still works great.
