Hmmmmm. That is a good question, one that I’m not sure I want to answer. Here is a bit of what I know.
- Blackfin are structure oriented fish. If you find them once somewhere you’ll find them again in the same place or similar locations.
- They don’t always show themselves. Sometimes you need to “go down and get them”. Knowing what you are looking at on your sonar is key.
- Expect to sort through a lot of AJ’s and bonita to get the few minutes of fun you see in my videos.
- Most people stop fishing long before they see that action, even though the fish are likely in the area.
You will not get that action trolling. You need to be patient in finding the fish and then work on getting them to eat.
Lots of gas money, time on the water, patience, and knowledge acquired through that expensive time spent on the ocean

Thankfully my boat has the same power package as Courtland’s and it doesn’t burn much gas even going to the stream. I’ll be out there as often as the weather allows.
