I spent the last 5 days in Panama, 2 travel and 3 fishing at Panama SportFishing Lodge. I have hours of video to sort and hundreds of photos. I figured I’d get a few up and dribble the rest in as I get back to normal life.
I can’t say enough about the lodge and staff. They basically opened the doors in their off season for us. The food was incredible the captains great and quailty boats and equipement. I had a buddy from NJ, one from Texas and my good friend and lodge owners brother with me.
The purpose of the trip was product testing for JigSkinz and Panama gave us all she had to offer. A sick yellowfin bite the first day with a few snowy grouper for dinner. Rooster fish and jacks on day two and some nice wahoo action on the last day. The video forthcoming is pretty sweet and the tuna feed was so fast we only took one photo but have a ton on the GoPro.
Here are a few to start.
We got to work at the lodge skinning all of their garbage plugs:
nice work Courtland…I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts and wish you all the best with the jigskinz…just know a few of us live somewhat vicariously through your adventures!
You will be seeing more of them in my reports. My North East Sales rep, Scott, caught a dozen giants in PEI on the T-Rex and is in love with the reels. We are trying to get a few mods done to make them a better jigging reel. They have always made a great reel for the money. Just not a great jigging reel. You should see them on our bluefin adventures this winter.
As far as spinning, nothing compares to the Stellas, but they could even be improved a bit.
Bonzo: Thanks, seriously. I don’t know how I got this lucky.

I would have the same issue as you if I jigged a lot. What are you thinking? One way bearing to take back play out of the handle?
Been really happy with my TRX30 and Raptor HX’s so far- Especially for the money.
I like the Quantum Boca and Cabo 60/70/80 for offshore spinners. You should try one out and let me know what you think. Under 200 bucks, and the 80 model does up to 50ish pounds of drag. Really smooth reels. Not as much my thing as your’s tho…

Avet definitely needs a one way bearing, that is my biggest complaint. Also, they could cut down on line capacity and therefore cost for spooling. They could include spool spacers for that though like Studio Ocean Mark.
I watch the bail arm and roller fail on a Cabo from a 20# Blackfin. First fish on the reel.
