not that great. Worked at it for about 5 hours to get a little less than 1/4 cooler. Some of them were about the biggest shrimp I’ve ever caught though! overall noticeably bigger on average than we caught last week, just not very many of them.
They seemed really random, one pole we would get a decent cast, then nothing. Circle back around and they would be on a different pole and nowhere else. best was probably about an hour or so before slack low, pretty dead otherwise. Seemed like it was picking up a little again when the tide started moving back in, but by then it was 1 am and we were cold, wet, and tired enough already!
Went to JI flats by jiyc this evenin… Got into em pretty good. Bout a half a cooler. Probably about 6 - 7 passes or so. Not thick, but shrimp in every net. Pulled u
Em about 9:30 and back to the dock. Didn’t come in till water started moving, after full dark… Prolly 8:00 or so. Ended up with like 212 shrimp… But they were all good size… So that’s good news.
I am so mad at myself for not going last night. All the weather forecasts said 25mph winds and 2 footers in the harbor. I went outside last night at 12:30 and there wasn’t even a slight breeze.
Now it is windy and I think tonight won’t be any good. I am going to sell my poles and get 50lbs of shrimp.
Staked out near jiyc tonight (Tuesday, 10-16) and they showed up! Got into em thick just before it got full dark, and slayed em after that. Numbers slowed down after the tide, but still 6 - 20 in each net. Left em there and pulled em up about 9:15… Ended up with 13.6 pounds, heads off. Phew… Finally.
