Out tonight with a group from the DI fishing club. Was a beautiful evening with JI area in lee of the SW wind. Had 2 boats “one Poling” and 2 of us running poles. First test cast about 6:45 PM, well before dark had shrimp, was about 1 hour after Low Tide and first 3 runs were the best of the night. Not Great, but better numbers than we have had this year. Size very mixed from smalls to larges, about 1/2 mediums, 1/4 each small/larges. Headed in about 9:30 w/ a little over 1/4 cooler. They were inconsistent but still there as we left. Boats one poling had 3-4 lbs each headed.
Would like to hear any reports from CB to see if any bigger shrimp there. Hoping this last few weeks of season will pick up!
I was out there Wednesday night one poling, same report. Caught some huge shrimp right at dark, then very mixed all night, and not huge numbers. I was only keeping the larger shrimp, and ended up putting away about 3 qts headed.
but, I had my anchor pull at one point and I drifted off my bait, never could get repositioned exactly right, so I wasted a lot of time and I know I wasn’t hitting the bait dead on. Seems like I did best when the water was shallower (~3 ft), but there were at least a few there all the way from mid low to high tide.
from what I’ve heard, CB hasn’t been good at all.

Agree that we did best the 1st hour of the incoming tide, as with you on Wed, there were shrimp there on the higher tide, just not in big numbers and variety of size. I was just glad to catch a few shrimp for a change. It sure was a beautiful night on the water again.
