wouldn’t say we killed it, but got another solid 3/4 cooler with scrimps still out there when we pulled poles!
I think if you want shrimp this season, you have to be prepared to sacrifice some sleep. Again, didn’t get the most action until pretty late but it was steady all night. Flipper and his retarded brother Dipper did a pretty good job of cleaning up our poles for a while there, but I guess they got enough and finally left, then the shrimp showed up pretty thick again.
All in about 3-5 ft of water, tide didn’t seem to matter much. Caught them on late incoming and early outgoing, a little slower at slack high.
Great night on the water too! Hot and humid at first, then some cooler air finally started moving in.
Nice job Wolfie. Hope to go tonight but haven’t decided where to go yet. It might be a late nite and I got no place to go tomorrow as long as I’m awake by gametime to watch my Mountaineers and Gamecocks football. No need to hurry home unless we run out of beer. Wish us luck, from the sounds of things…we’re gonna need it.
Wolfie it looks a lot better than it has been, nice catch and thanks for the report. My bride is making me have fun in Aruba for a week, hopefully the shrimp will be in thick when I get back. That is if ya’ll don’t get’em all while we’re gone.
Nice job. I will be going out again this Saturday. I will get on 16 and yell Wolfie, see if you are out. Hopefully I do as good as you. I think I need to move a little closer to the JIYC. I have been hanging up closer to Ellis creek. Shramps look to be about the same size.
At last! Some shrimp. Ended up going over to JI Flats… But closer to the yacht club… Wind was rockin it as we came up from Wappoo, but waves calmed down once we got into the flats… Staked out in about 3 feet, and water really never got deeper than that, even as the tide came in. Baited up and started runs just as last bit of pink left in the sky… Shrimp in the net right off… Not full nets, but steady throughout the evening. Brought my daughter and the wife even threw the net for a while… Did 4-5 passes… Got CLOSE to a half cooler… Terrific numbers?. No not so much… But these are the first shrimp we’ve seen all season, so am very pleased to see some jumpers when we’re throwing. Not jumbos, lots of smalls, mixed in with mediums and a few larges… And lots of blue crabs… Got at least 4 fat ass crabs in the net… Which of course is chaos trying to get em out… Oh we’ll… Didn’t kill it out there tonight, but am so very glad to see some shrimp in the net.
