JIYC Saturday night

Slowest night of the season so far, ended up with 1/4 cooler of mostly mediums after 2.5 hrs of running the poles, taking “re-charging breaks” etc.

2 weeks ago we coolered out in this exact same spot and left shrimp on the poles… what gives? I’m thinking this cold snap pushed em’ out, or maybe we set up a little too deep this time? (3-5 ft., whereas last time we had the best luck in 2ft) Regardless, nice night on the water, took a newby with us who remarked - “I can’t believe we got so much shrimp!” Haha, I’m glad he wasn’t disappointed.

I may go one more time before the season’s out, but not sure based on this last trip.

Sansman,

I took my kids out there Saturday night, too. We set up fairly deep, 5 to 8 feet deep two hours before low. We caught some nice shrimp but they never really showed up. A lot of boats came after we set up and stuck their poles shallow. Chatted with a few other shrimpers at the landing and they didn’t do any better than us.

Quarter Moon - weaker tides. Better time to deer hunt - they were moving!!!

Yeah Jford, it looks like I will be taking my son deer hunting the last weekend of the season.
