I have just been informed that John Baker passed away today. John was the former Director of the Sewee Coastal Retreat in Awendaw. He was the owner of The Outdoorsman Landscaping Company. John was diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease this past August. John was a good man and a good friend. A lot of shrimpers camped and put in at the Coastal Retreat’s facilities and had the opportunity to meet John. He taught me alot about shrimping and fishing. Please keep John’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

Is the John you are referring to also known as “Big John” who managed the Methodist campgrounds on the intercoastal waterway?? If so - big loss. Big John taught me and others how to deep hole shrimp and how to correctly use my depth finder.
Baitshrimper, that is the same John. He was a good guy. Will certainly miss seeing him around. Praying for his family.
