John's Island flats

I’ve been out on the flats for the last two nights, I’ve only seen two reds, unfortunately, they were too far away to cast at. These are my usual money spots. Always productive flats. Put the fly rod down and caught some sharks and whiting at the edge of the grass. Anyone else experiencing this? I’m thinking the water is too warm up on the flats. Ideas?

I mainly fish the Wando, but have been experiencing the same until tonight. I have been averaging seeing 2-3 fish a night with no takers. We saw about 20 tails tonight, and hooked up with one right at sunset. Had plenty of opportunities and shoild have caught more! Still alot of fun and glad to finally see alot of fish. I was wondering if the cooler day had anything to do with it? Definitely going out tomorrow night if the weather cooperates.

Glad to hear I’m not alone! I’m definitely heading out tomorrow. Hopefully I can put a bend in the fly rod. Good luck!

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Anything that would possible remove the fiddlers from that flat, that might run off the fish, but every flat that I have fished that had fish this year, had fish this year
