I went to the lake today and when I started my motor up it revved through the roof. The tach was not working right but I would guess close to 5000 rpms. I would shut the motor down fast every time. I checked all the throttle linkages and they were all hooked up normally. Any ideas what could cause this?

If it isn’t fuel injected sounds like carb problem possibly stuck open butterfly? Be sure to stay away from ethanol gas if at all possible.
I will check on that. I always use no ethanol gas. The closest gas station to my house is no ethanol

Make sure that nothing is keeping the linkage from returning to the idle position. Pull the cover off and open it to wide open (with the motor off) and pull the throttle back, see if the the linkage hits the stop like it should. This is assuming that the motor is the v-4 two stroke 135
Well I solved the problem. The linkage for the bottom carb was not adjusted properly. I ran it on the muffs and it purred like a kitten for over 10 minutes before I turned it off. Thanks for the help
