johnson 15

I’ve blown two motors up this duck season. A 25 mariner and a 15 johnson. The 25 is toast however all the 15 needs is a new water pump and head gasket. I can’t get the new head gasket to seal back up. What’s your thoughts on using high temp gasket silicone to fill in the gaps?

Did you check the head to make sure it wasn’t warped? That would cause it not to seal. Not sure how well RTV would work.

Something is wrong. You could have a warped head. Did you scrape all the old gasket off and emery cloth the head and block? Torqueing to the right specs?

I’d say it a little warped. It got pretty (**() hot.

It worked. I took 220 and hand sanded on it for about an hour. She’s pissing and purring like a kitten again.

Figure 8’s with emory cloth on an old glass picture would do the trick at home. Granite table is the best when at work.
Did my warped plastic carb bowls like that on my 150hp and they sealed up nice.

Being superstitious is bad luck.
Time and tide wait for no man.

She is now running 26 mph compared to 17 mph before. That’s moving in a little 14 ft boat on the creek.
