I’m putting a water pump in on a 1990 long shaft 25 hp for a friend of mine. I got the foot seperated about 1/2" but don’t see where to disconnect the shift shaft at…anybody done one?
and know how to do that…Thanks

youtube has a 15 hp on there, looks like a flathead screw on the shifter linkage?

I believe you have to remove the “screen” in the foot and it’s there. Haven’t done one in a while but I have the service manaul at the house. I’ll check when I get home if you want to give me a call. 843-327-3137.

May need to shift into forward to drop a little more to where you can see the screw on the shift linkage. That is my guess.

there is a nut and a plastic little wedge piece
don’t lose it
it will work without it, but you wont be able to adjust the shift correctly

I couldn’t get the split plastic nut to separate from the brass nut.
