Well, time came to sell the offshore boat, getting to old for all that
banging around on the deep blue sea, and equip a 16’ Jon for creek and beach fishing.
Thought you might enjoy a few pix and have a few suggestions on how to improve the rig-this is my first Jon.
-long rod holders are for long surf rod butts
-deck is truck bed liner over closed cell foam insulation filling
the ribs
Mark Googer did the railings and standing loop
-there will be more rod holders-still a WIP
Since you have those rails on there, you may want to consider rod holders like this. Theyre alot more versatile than having a fixed mount holder. Besides the fact that they rotate 360 and you can adjust the vertical angle, you can also easily slide them up and down the rail as needed.
I don’t particularly like the way they look on the boat, but for the type of fishing I do, I really like them.
Looks great! The only thing I would suggest is to put an after market tilt/trim on that Yamaha. (I can’t tell if it has tilt/trim on it now, although I do see a battery) I have one on my 25 Yamaha and it really helps in shallow water when you just need a little more prop clearance. Of course, I’m old and don’t like having to lift the motor.
Thanks all-
-like the rod holders-will get a couple for the bow rails-two rocket launcher types will go on either side of the standing loop
-have a ground rod anchor-will use it on this boat-did not do a good job on my old boat
-explored hydraulic lift-OEM too expensive at $1,250 + could not get split aft seat config-may decide on an aftermarket-the motor IS heavy
-door mat on order from Amazon:wink:
-cleaned up the garage a bit for the pix-pretty clean all the time though
