I agree with what he said about controlling your bait better with a bait casting reel. I use my bait casters 90% of the time. A good fisherman can use both quite effectively. He said the trout are harder to catch on artificial bait in August. They may be, but a buddy of mine and I went last week…Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 1 & 2. We caught a total of 104 trout on artificial baits…all but 12 were caught on jigs. Those 12 were caught on top water. It was my feeling that being in the right place on the right tide was more important than the time of day.
