They’re still around, you just have to go a little farther out to find them. Had at least an 70-80 pounder hang out under the boat for about 4 hours. Had no interest in anything presented, highly frustrating. Should have brought the speargun haha he was just out of free gaffing range. Pretty sure he would have ripped my arms off though. Ride out was nice but the ride in was a different story, never been so happy to come through the jetties. Played with a few 10ft+ Tiger Sharks too!

Today would have been a better day to go offshore, the pond was flat. But it was raining this morning and I decided I finally wanted an inshore slam. Fished from Dunn to a few creeks behind Bird Island, nothing but rays, bluefish, and a tiny flounder. Decided to give the jetties a whirl and it payed off, caught my personal best red. She ate a very small mullet. Also caught a ~6’ nurse shark, another first for me. I wanted a picture holding it but didn’t want to stress her out anymore. Pet her on the head, got the hook out and she took off. Also caught a handful of seabass (all around 11"), bluefish, and a few big rays.
Nice fish dude!!! I heard the reds were chewing out at the rocks. We may fish the flounder tourney on Saturday. You heard anything about it?
I wanted to fish that tournament but I couldn’t get off work. Drifting the jetties on an incoming tide should produce some fattty flatties, probably some reds too. I hear there might be some nice flounder in Tubbs…probably not though . I still haven’t been able to find any good size ones in the creeks, even my in best holes, don’t know whats up with that.
What kind of tourney Gooze? Details?
All I know is it is out of Harbor Gate Marina. Some guys gave me a flyer last Saturday, but I can’t find it to save my life!!! They said it was a guaranteed $1000 1st place payout, and more depending on the number of boats entered. If anyone knows the website, please share!!!
