June Meeting Presentation 6/10/14

Please come out to the flight deck on Tuesday June 10th where Warren Holland(Media Services Manager at the SC Bar Association) will be doing a presentation on videography in fishing. He will share techniques to capture good video of your fishing adventures with both a GoPro type camera as well as cell phone video. This should be very educational and will help us all create memories that will last forever, even if the ones in our heads fade over time. Hope to see everyone there!

The wife and kids gave me a GoPro two years ago and I have never figured out how to use the crazy thing. Spent a couple hours one day trolling youtube videos and thought I had it figured out only to come home from work the next day to find my then 12 yo son playing with it and he had changed all of the settings.Put it on a shelf where it’s been collecting dust ever since. Might be a good time to dust it off.

Sounds like a good topic to me!

There’s a few guys down at the coast that have quadcopters for taking aerial pics/video with a GoPro while fishing. Pretty amazing stuff.

Some still pics

That is very cool. I have enough trouble with a trolling motor and Lowrance. Maybe I could bring along a videographer?

I’ll be your videographer if you show me how to fish like you were last Saturday … LOLOL

Not many secrets to cut bait. Other than that finding the right spot thing. I did happen to hit it right Saturday. Just kept catching clones of the same fish. All the stumps were a little aggravating but that is where the fish are.

Let me know when you want to go cut bait.

I think there is an art to cut bait fishing. Big John took me under his wing a few years ago and we’ve worked hard to get better ever since. As Sully and I discovered a few weeks ago, as little as 75 yards or so can make the difference between catching 20 and catching 0 even if you are in the same depth. The biggest thing is you’ve got to learn when to move on and when to sit put…and a lot of that can be luck.

Sounds like this needs to be a topic of presentation at one of the club meetings … unless I either missed it or it’s already on the agenda … LOL

Joby, I’ll get with you - you can bet on that … LOL

We did it last year and will probably schedule it again for 2015. I’m trying not to duplicate a presentation two years in a row but maybe sometimes it’s called for. Big John and Billy Durant did it before. Maybe Warren Turner would be interested in helping us out again. He did one for us two or three years ago. He’s also well known as a successful cut bait fisherman.

Warren is the only person I’ve ever seen throw a cast net while on his knees.A 10footer no less.He did a cut bait presentation 2 years ago.
