Just a Few Sheepshead

Made 4 trips in the past few weeks average was 15 fish per trip.

Recently received my tagging gun from Robert Wiggers at DNR and tagged 14 Sheepshead in the past two trips.

All caught on fiddler crabs.

This one almost got away, I broke a fish off and tied on the first hook I found. The Owner Mosquito hooks are great but you can’t put the heat on the fish like you can with a stout live bait hook. Once I landed him, I tagged and released him, he was 18".

One of the keeper fish I released.

The Live Bait hook in action.

Even kept a few, most were released

Looking forward to the next trip, I love catching these fish.

Good to see you fishing, Simon. How are you liking that Conflict?

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

like your style. keep a little, send a lot back.

Great job. Sheep’s can be a lot of fun, and good eating.

Olde Man Charters

Loving the Conflict, I’m fishing 4 of them. A 1000, 2000, 2500, and 3000. I think I am prepared. It has taken the beating of kayak fishing so far. The one pictured is my oldest one.

I haven’t managed to catch one of them yet. Definitely on my list of “fish to catch”. Nice job!

Finding them can be the difficult part.

That’s a “Belair Sheepshead”

This is an “East Compton Sheepshead”

Sure was nice of mr. Wiggers to hook you up with the tagging gun like that. /

Awesome job on the Sheeps. BUT BE CAREFUL…

...catch too many you start to look like them.

Good job on the sheeps, those are some nice ones!

Just to clarify, DNR doesn’t supply (or sell) the tagging gun, it’s purchased by the angler. I assume Hurricane701 meant he received tags from me.

Don’t want the idea to be that some folks are given tag guns for free while others have to purchase them.

Robert W.

You still Poon hunting wiggs?

“I am not involved in this thread, only helping Fred understand who he is dealing with.”

Yep. Still at zero though. Frustrating when you see them bust (not roll) all around you and you can’t hook up. I hate em!
