Just a few (yeah right) words of thanks ...

For those that have Facebook … head on over and check out the updated MSC page …

For those that don’t here you go …

Liz brought both fish to the boat …

Both fish can from below the Gap and were caught between 8:00 and 9:00 … after 9:00 we never got another bite …

Both fish were put in our livewell and weighed in live …

Both fish were taken back down below the gap and released …

Despite their ride to and from the scales both fish did EXTREMELY well and kicked off strong after their release …

Everyone really needs to think about protecting these larger fish … With a little bit of care they can be released to live another day … With today’s technology a trophy can be made from pictures and measurements rather than destroying the animal …

Liz’s 1st fish of the day … 27.19 pounds …

Liz’s 2nd fish of the day … 15.23 pounds …

I want to take the time to say how humbled we are by all of this … I know it’s a very big deal to not only catch a 25+ Striper on Murray, but to bring 2 double digit fish live to the scales AND then RELEASE them in good health is awesome …

We never could have done it without all of the knowledge, advice, and encouragement from everyone in and out of the club … I can’t possibly think of everyone who have helped us out over the past year and if I forget a name please take no offense … but to name a few …

Richy, Joby, James, Charles (we owe the November TX to you ), Tom Gitto (you always seem to be able to make Liz smile) Jorge, Shawn, Harold & Debbie, Mike & Pattianne, Spoonmaster (one

Wow! Super nice fish, Rick. Congrats to you and Liz. That’s a helluva day in anybody’s book on Murray.

See … KNEW I forgot someone … Thanks Todd for the intel on the upper end …

Those are some fat fish, good to see some big fish getting caught on Murray. Really good to see them released. It wasn’t that long ago that fish over 21 were hard to find. Congratulations, you put in the work and deserve it.

You’re welcome but it wasn’t much, buddy. Anytime I have some info, you’re welcome to it. (As is anybody) Not fishing TX’s allows me to share what little info I have without fear of ruining my chances for a good finish. I’ve said it before, but my best days have come when someone pointed me in the right direction or told me what areas aren’t hitting on much so I didn’t waste my (limited) time.

I forgot to mention I thought it was really cool y’all took the extra effort to return the fish back to where you found them and gave another angler the chance to smile like Liz is in those pictures! Besides, those new mounts are super realistic and last forever.

“Below” the gap…that’s funny

Congratz… A 27# and a 15# is an epic day on Murray!

Liz runs the starboard side and I run the port side … So anything that goes off on that side is the responsibility of the person running that side and then the other person provides support to the one on the rod …

That’s how it works best for us … We’ve lost fish handing the rods off and so it’s just not done on our boat - especially during TX time …

Now I will say this, since I also pilot the boat I decide (more or less usually based upon water/weather/wind conditions) which direction we pull a particular area and this area I usually pull opposite of how we pulled it on Saturday …

The last time we were in this area both sides did pretty well with my side doing a little better … This go around Liz expressed a desire to have “a little more action” and so I pulled it in reverse … Little did I know … LOL

All kidding aside, I enjoy putting Liz on fish … She really likes it and so I (generally) try to make sure she has a better shot at it than I do … Usually it works out that we all get to reel in a few and occasionally it works out that only one of us gets to reel in something other than bait …

This just so happened to be one of those times … to be honest, I’m happy for Liz that it did

You oughta - you were pulling that “area” all day long … LOL

Rick, congratulations to you and Liz. Can’t think of a better way for a more deserving couple to finish out the year. Not only did you take the time to ask the questions, put into practice what you had learned, spent the time on the water, experienced a few bumps on the road (or more correctly on the water), but you were also gracious enough to share unhesitatingly information with others on this forum (as several others also do). You’ve set a high bar for you to follow up on in 2015, but it should be fun. Congratulations, again, on two very nice fish, and giving them the opportunity to get bigger.

First of all, congratulations on two very nice fish, awesome!!

Secondly, thanks for including me in the list of folks who have helped you on Murray. If I’ve helped in any way you’re welcome. However, I’m sure I should rank last on that impressive list of fishermen. I’m basically a green fish and white perch fisherman who rarely targets stripers. That might change if Fogman keeps letting me tag along with him.

Fogman has shown me a lot about striper fishing and rigging in the past year and a half. He was the first person I fished with when the Docs finally said I could start back fishing, driving the boat carefully, so as not to bounce any stitches loose.

I’m pretty much 100% now. Work has me tied up this week, but I hope to be on the lake a couple of days next week. As you know I like fishing with the spoons. I’ll post a report if I catch any stripers in the deeper water.

Lawcrusher, I now understand why it’s your Wife’s fault that you have to fish! You’re trying to keep up with her:smiley: Nice win and fish.
