Not sure if it’ll mean more for the inshore or offshore crowd, but over the last few days, I’ve noticed a lot more bird activity off the beach at Folly. Lots of dive bombing. Not sure what it is, but some kind of baitfish has shown up.
Will the bait usually show up before the weather change? I’m assuming the warmer water from the gulfstream gets here sooner than the warmer air and maybe that’s why (if my theory holds) there’s more bait but the air is still pretty chilly?
Do you remember if the birds were feeding on an incomming or out going tide? This could make a difference.

Didn’t pay attention to the tide. Just noticed more pelis and terns (or whatever they are) dive bombing.
Do you know if you’ll see kings, tarpon, cuda etc blowing up bait right off the beach. That’s pretty cool to see down in S. FL during the mullet run.
They are most likely chasing menhadden .
