Killing sailfish video is horrible.
Just got back from fishing Quepos,Costa Rica and they take great care to release all billfish alive and healthy.
Long liners suck because all species of fish can be caught and killed…not just the intended targets.

If it’s gonna be eaten, what’s the difference of killing a sailfish vs. a wahoo or tuna?
When I was fishing on a charter out of Acapulco, Mexico last year I saw them fishing in canoes much smaller than the one in the video up to 20 miles out. Just strap a two stroke on there and you are good to go, apparently. I was kind of glad we didn’t catch any sail fish because all of the ones I saw caught were immediately killed.

not much really except down there there are no limits or quotas on what they catch… so its sad to see dozens and dozens of sails dried out with no limits imposed.

Residents of Third World countries seldom get government assistance so they have to catch, kill and eat what they can.
I would think it wouldnt be very easy catching sails by hand.

I guess you think it is ok to kill a bill if you have a multi million dollar boat, and you can win 100K. it is food to those people, no different than a dolphin or tuna here.

Everything has it’s price.
I spend time in Trinadad with a church group twice a year out in the jungle. an old man in an old datson truck comes by everother day selling fish he has marlin,sord,shrimp, crabs about an inch in diamiter and threadfin shad about 2" long. I bought some moonshine fish and some baracuda. great grilled on open fire Beef is $30.00 apound and chicken are $18,00 each but fish is cheeap funny, tuna is $.75 and king fish is $1.50

We catch WAAAAAAAAAAY more sails than Yellowfin tuna here lately…
