This will be a work in progress for a few days, but I wanted to get something out with the major details so people can make plans if they are interested.
Cost: $10 per person for adults. Kids under 16 free or the more experienced ones may enter as an adult if they want a shot at the bigger pot. I will send my address to send your $$ next week. A small portion of the entry fees will go toward the kid’s pot.
Times: Leave from wherever you want. Lines in the water anytime after 6:15 am, weigh in at 10:15 am. Separate weigh in for kids and adults. Each person weighs in their biggest fish. Payout 1st, 2nd and maybe 3rd depending on number of entries.
Location: TBD. Looking into a few options. Likely to be Spence Islands
Door prizes for kids: Have someone will be bringing raffle tickets. Please take a look around and see if you have any unopened fishing gear that you know you will never use…like those imitation crickets you got from your wife because she knows you like to fish.
Food: Keeping it simple and grilling up some hot dogs. I’m supplying them and will have people bring the condiments, buns, paper plates etc… We’ll work that out as it gets closer. Bring your own drinks.
I think that about covers it, but let me know if I missed anything.

Edit: I know some of you have replied by PM or another thread, but if you would, please give a quick reply here as well so I will have one location to go to keep track of who all is fishing…and pass the word on to others if you know anyone that does not read this forum, but may be interested.
Sounds like great fun and an opportunity to meet good experienced striper people. We’re still thankful for the information kw186 shared with us to get us started in the right direction. So count the two of us in. Let us know what type of condiment and how much you want us to bring.
Count me in plus one other adult and one kid right now may be two kids if i can get mine from his mothers. (Her weekend). Sounds fun. May try to get the wives to Spence just for food and some swimming. Looking forward to it.
KW and Pattianne you should both have a PM from a couple of days ago. It’s still showing “unread”, so I just want to make sure you actually did receive it. If not, just let me know.
i am fishing fri night so may be able to fish sat also. sounds like it is going to be a fun thing. i just have one question. you said that some of the entry fee was going for the kids pot. these kids should not be using pot. ha ha ha
Fish 2 days in a row! I have done it. I know Murrymaker and Steelytom are quite jealous my wife does not mind one bit how much I fish. In fact, she will even text me with little love notes while I am out there fishin.
I took this off my phone. It’s the latest one I received while out fishing with the Lawcrushers about a week ago…the last time I fished 2 days in a row:
“The front of our house is disgusting… u always find time for fishing but never to clean up your ****… if this stuff isnt cleaned up by tomorrow…all you **** put away…as God is my witness…it will be out for trash on friday.”
Needless to say, I didn’t try for 3 days in a row.
OK. I’ve heard back from everyone and we have 10 boats with 21 adults and 6 kids.
I expect the competition to be brutal with entrants including “What A” Guy Griffin; winner of the Lake World Night Tournament last week who also landed a 28 lb’er just a few days earlier.
Also fishing will be Chris and “Crazy” Jayne Ogan. You will see them fishing with 3 people in their little no frills 14’ jon boat, but don’t be fooled. Just last week they put a 24 lb’er in the boat!
I have what I believe is a good email address for everyone and will be sending out an email this evening, so if you don’t get one please let me know.
Coolbreeze, I’ve included you in the distribution list in case you decide to fish.
Also, if between now and Friday night, anyone decides they would like to join us, just send me a PM and I’ll get you the details.
New to striper fishing but would love to be included. May not catch much but the excitement and meeting new fishermen and people like you guys will be good enough! Please add us to your list: 2 adults (my dad and myself) bu may add someone else, will know tomorrow.
I tried to convince the wife that I needed to take our son fishing in this so we could have some quality time together since he might be feeling left out now that the new baby is here. It didn’t work, she said I could watch both kids while she caught up on sleep, and I could throw a ball with him in the yard if he is feeling overlooked.
I tried, but figured a week after birth was a little too early to take off fishing. Hope you guys have fun, I’ll have to hit the next one.
Any news? Did striperskiff pull one out? Steelytom and the crew limit out with 20# fish? Murraymaker rip the lips off of one with the red reelz? The tension is killin me! Wish I was out there this morning, weather looked great…and i’m at work !

Great day on the water. Bad day to be fishing…just saying. Seems like everyone marked a ton of fish but could get them to eat too well. Think big fish was like 6.?#.Afterwards rode down to the towers and finished up some bait, caught some nicer fish and lost a battle with a big boy after 5 min tug fest due to a pulled hook. Got the fish stopped but couldnt get him up. 5’ up 10’ down…that was probably my big one for the year…
Fishing was slow, but it was an absolutely beautiful morning on the lake followed by the weigh in and lunch with some good people.
We drifted in the big water about 2 hrs before we finially landed our first and only fish…turned out to be a 5+ lb’er that got little 7 yo Morgan the big fish prize in the kids division. The girls really put it to the boys with 2nd place going to Katie Dzoba and 3rd to Susan, daughter of Jogmd.
I think I have a nice pic of the girls all holding their catch, but my phone got wet and is dead. I have it apart in a bowl of dry rice, so hopfully that will bring it back to life.
For the adults, big fish was a 6+ lb’er caught by KW186. In second was Jayne Ogan and following up in 3rd was Curley Dog, both with 5+ fish.
Congratz to all who won and thanks to everyone who came out. It was good to see eveyone and nice to meet some of you for the first time.
