took a week long trip down to florida to sarasota and boca grande. rented a boat for 3 days, fished from the beach the rest. fish in picture was my first snook on the fly, and on a fly that i tied for a previous swap. it was a white chenille craft fur shrimp.
oh yea i forgot i also caught a stingray on the fly, took me into the backing. also was first fish on the new rod. oh well. he was quickly followed by mr. lineside.

Looks awesome. Dying to catch a snook myself. Never heard of a stingray caught on a fly rod, that’s pretty interesting

If there is no picture of this stingray on the end of your fly rod, I would probably not mention it again.
Bringing a new rod on a trip could be asking for bad luck. But, looks like you bucked the odds and scored pretty good with that snook. From the clear blue water in the background it probably was good trip all around.
I go to Boca Grande every year to fish the pass for poons. I always have more fun on all the other great fishing without all the boats in the inlet. Gasparilla is where it’s at!
yea we were on caya costa when i caught this snook. we must have caught 70 trout on the flats in gasparilla sound every time we went.
