Guess it was just one of those weeks…
6/10, we fished on the 250 line and found fantastic water in 500 feet. Caught one dolphin and nothing until 1130. Look back and see a blue marlin eat the short right rigger and it was on. Cleared lines and fought the fish for a while but eventually we pulled the hook. We were all a little let down, but it was awesome to see that blue eat. After that, not a single bite for the rest of the day.
6/15, we fished on the 500 line and found great water again around 900 feet. Great temp breaks and a great weedline that went for miles. We fished that weedline all day long and didn’t see a single fish. Hard to believe it’s June and it was already this slow. On a side note, there was a boat that was fishing the same weedline that was borderline reckless. We were in line with other boats working the weedline and a boat named Dealers Choice ran straight across the weedline and cut us off right off our bow and was easily 20 yards away from hitting us. HIs baits slung right in front of us and we had to make an abrupt turn off the weedline just to not run the baits over. Bottom line is that respect and safety have to come first when fishing offshore. We are all a long way from home and reckeless actions are not appreciated nor warranted.
Even though it was a slow past couple trips, we can’t wait to get back out there.
