just sittin around thinking

Since it’s about 20 deg outside, I was just sitting inside think forward to spring. since most of ya’ll get to fish the area much more often than I even get to think about, I was wanting to ask a few questions so maybe I can spend more time fishing and less time doing nothing except beating the water with a paddle.

  1. Is there anywhere near sunrise park that’s worth fishing and if there is, is there somewhere else I should put in that’s more convenient?

  2. Is there anywhere that I could go hookup with some small sharks that’s not covered in boat traffic. (catching fish is fun, catching big fish is even more fun, getting run over by boats while being towed by the big fish…not so much fun.)

3.My dad and I went out fishing with my cousin and one of his friends on his friends boat years ago. we put in at a small community boat ramp in a neighborhood off of the south side of fort johnson rd. from there we went out to a pretty deep hole that was still inshore somewhere and were catching quite a few decent sized sharks, any idea where that could have been?

any answers from you guys will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

east of the cooper has some great spots.

might be worth the drive. i see many guys from summerville come this way.

I’ve thought about launching at sunrise park, but never done it. That’s a pretty decent sharkin spot from the bridge. Talk to Willy or fishless about it

you can paddle to the inside of Dewee’s inlet from there to a DEEP hole. It gets a good bit of boat traffic though

My biggest shark this year was at bird key launching from Pitt St bridge. There’s a big shallow flat and I was soaking a 1/2 crab waiting for a red to show up when a 6 foot sandbar swallowed it and took off.

this time of year the jetties and NSR are the only pllaces I know that will hold sharks… I am sue there are holes on the ICW you can get to easily in a yak but like TB said there is still a fair amount of boat traffic on them… I do know of one DEEEEEEEEEPPPP hole near bushy park that is about a mile and a half paddle to get to and not a lot of boat traffic… the rest of the creek is about 12-16ft and the hole last time I was there was 58ft…

speaking of crab bank…what is I know that is a bird sanctuary but at low tide when the flat starts to uncover there are a ton of shells and sharks teeth there. what is the legality of walking onto the flat when its uncovered???

not sure. I’ve seen people out walking around and I’ve seen Mr Green Jeans having a chat with them. Don’t know if it was a gentle “please move along” or “can I see some ID”. I kept drifting with the flow.

There are certian times of the year you can’t be on the island, breeding/hatching seaason or sumptin… I am sure as long as you are on the edge or the flat at low tide during the right time of the year you shuld be fine… there is a sign on there, oe was, that tells ya when ya can’t be on there…
