I am fragile. Not like a flower. But like a bomb.

Would love to catch a really big Poon just to watch em jump:smiley:

My friend has tagged 6 tarpon in the Cooper River since Thanksgiving. Largest at 19in. We never seem to catch em when I’m in the boat though lol :+1::+1:

Edit, it was 19inch for largest.

See, global warming ain’t all that bad!!!

Reports of Snook and Tarpon caught on hook and line inshore Charleston area from multiple sources over the past few years…Hope we have another mild winter this year, trout would benefit from that as well…

Stump,

Are we supposed to be tagging Tarpon right now? I saw the DNR report you referenced. I guess I’ll email the DNR dude to see if I should…

yes, tag 'em!

I imagine you can tag whatever you want to tag… to an extent… My friend just got into tagging fish last year or so and was even asked not to tag a spottail for a while there. Now, I think he said he was “allowed” to tag every 4th or 5th spottail. I’m sure it’s because of the copious amounts of anglers tagging spottail.

Let me know what the DNR says in their reply to your email. Thanks:+1:

Well recreational anglers are only supposed to tag “target” species per this list: http://www.dnr.sc.gov/marine/tagfish/target.html I suppose DNR can tag whatever fish they want to for their research purposes.

But I did hear back from DNR and they said that participating recreational tagging partners could tag Tarpon.

Hopefully I can catch one around here in our waters and tag them. Would be interesting if these juvies actually can survive winter here.
