The tripod it a basic 6 inch $5 folding tripod, unscrew and remove the folding legs, get a 1" (I think?) PVC pipe coupler, and a matching end cap/plug, note the screw on the right of the coupler which holds the tripod in the coupler, the rope is in case my waterproof Olympus SW700 goes over board.

Thanks Dudes…when I realized the folding legs unscrewed to reveal a 1" O.D. tube, I said something like “Sweeeeeet!!!” 
Let me know if it works for you too. Don’t forget to oil the ball joint before and after each trip.
