Kayak evening Redfish

Experimenting with a high tide in a lowtide spot I quickly found the bite was on for the 45 minutes or so last night. Jumped in my kayak and went against the current for awhile kind of rough current and wind crossing. Water just leaving the grass. First cast 24", next creek 5th cast 24" (thinking my fish/cast % rocks) 1st finger off that creek about 10 casts later fat 30" with 9 spots. Too dark to rebait and current picking up. Caught on a 1/8th lead head and red sea shad bass assasin (dark red back w/ gold flake belly) usually throw the albino/red screw tail bass assasin. Haven’t figured out how to take a good pic of a redfish in my kayak by myself- arms too short! usually end up with a big eye or mouth, spot.I was traveling light last night, only carried; rod, pliers, 4 grubs and spray scent. If anyone around wants to hook up for an afternoon paddle fish let me know. Strangers welcome.

What area were you fishing?

ss, I’m not sure yet…I’m wanting to go out to Copahee on Friday after work. High tide sould be around 7:11 with a 6.2 tide. Looking at getting in the water around 5:00? and what about you DD and 5151?

SS will be coming down7/11 for a week of fishing back in my old Home town. Will be renting a yak to try it out, could you pass on a few area to try? My G/F wants to catch some reds, she has already landed some Trophy Stripers off the Beach here.
Thanx in advance

I only fish on days that end in"Y"

Hey, ssflounder, what spray scent do you use? Do you find that it really makes a difference?

OkatieCat,
Gotta go with “Bang” I think shrimp flavor. Yes I know it makes a difference. My buddy and I have done all sorts of experiments using same everything but spray. I got outfished. He bought a can of Jacks (which will almost make stop fishing it smells so bad)been having some success. I’ve used WD40. I think anything to appeal to more than 1 sense is the idea.
This last weekend we slayed the flounder on Sat. & Sun. using spray on muddies of all things not everytime though. The experiment was somewhat skewed b/c I overcrowded the bucket and we had a total dieoff:dizzy_face: But we were still catching flatties mixed with trout.
