Yakdaddy,
There are no mangroves around here. If you’re planning to launch and float the HI lagoon you’ll most likely be fishing for reds and maybe some trout. The trout have been slow to bite lately. There are some black drum around the base of fallen trees. You’re rig of choice would be a small swivel, 12" clear leader, 1/4oz jighead and plastics. Get yourself some gulp 3" new penny shrimp or some albino & red saltwater assasins.

If you’re going live stop by a bait shop and get some minnows and put them about a foot off the bottom under a cork. You may be lucky to catch a flounder but most have moved offshore.

Good luck.

real slow, if your casting! Went out sunday and the only bites came when I reeled the baits as slow a possible on the bottom

Wet Lines

hunting island state park in the lagoon and you can camp by the water. but dont leave your fish in a cooler over nite the racoons will get them:frowning_face:

thanks for the info.
it will come in handy, i was told that the specks were hitting electric chicken plastics, has anyone had the same results.
