Where did you launch from??

I’ve seen guys launch from Fort Moultrie claiming to paddle out to the jetties on just recreational tours (no fishing equipment). Tourists in speedos. Whether or not that’s actually a good place to launch, I do not know.
Last summer when DDOlson and I went out there the first time, we launched from Station 22 - it was a straight shot out to the jetties but the portage to get from the parking to the beach was quite a haul, plus the beach breakers made things ‘interesting’. We also launched from Fort Moultrie and paddled down on an outgoing tide, and came back on the incoming…it was a shorter portage, but a much longer paddle out there…
I left from Ft. Moultrie where Lewis and Darrell and I have also left from. With the sail it’s really effortless to get out there. I held the sail line (mainsail rode in sailor parlance) in my hand to release it immediately if needed. I also had a divers gloves so it was not cold on my hand or chapping with the rode in my hand. I will definitely get the inflatable amas sometime soon. I probably won’t be going out again solo at least until mid March/April when the water warms up a bit. I always wear my PFD. I filed a float plan with the wife. I carried the phone in a waterproof container. Also my portable marine vhf. I also have a hefty life insurance policy. You have my permission if I die to write all about it and tell anyone the cautionary tale you care too. I still had a great time, it was wonderful being out on my boat, in the winter, solo at the jetties. About 1pm, it started to really get warm. When I got back to the beach by the lighthouse, I felt like Christopher Columbus.
With a hefty life insurance policy are you sure that the wife would be alarmed and possiblity ignore the float plan for a few hours later?
Sometimes I forget about catching fish
Its great to turn a trip into an adventure and explore different areas.
We are planning some Mother ship kayak trips to the south Jetties/Morris Island once the water warms up a bit
WE have the ideal boat 22ft Pontoon

She might Darrell, but what the hell, I’ll be dead already so I won’t care anyway.
Sounds awesome Capt. Dave - I might have to sail out there and meet up with you guys. I know how to get to the south jetty, and I looked up morris island on my top spot map, let me know when you guys plan on going out, I’d love to follow you out there.
