Kayak Fishing on the Wando

Wife and I are off this week and want to go fishing on the Wando or the rivers that branch off where we can target some reds. Can anyone suggest a landing or somewhere we can put in that is close to one of these spots. We are dying to catch some fish. we have been 5 times and caught two fish in fresh water. Now we are going back for some red fish again. Please help if you can. in between jobs and need some excitement.

hit up TooBusy, he’ll point you to the best launches there.

Paradise Island boat landing(Wando River Access Sign) off of Hwy 17 North about 5 miles past Wando High School. Public landing…no floating dock…semi bad drop off at low tide(add 1 hour to Charleston Harbor tide times) keeps bigger boats away. Upper river with great fishing around docks and feeder creeks. Perfect for small boat, kayak, canoe, etc. You can catch bait within 50 yards of the ramp on a low tide…wear good footwear so you don’t cut your feet up on the coon oysters that grow on the brick-a-brack near the ramp. Good Luck.
