Kayak fishing partners

Hey guys,

Finally have all my gear ready and my car rack setup and I’m looking for some kayak fishing friends in charleston. I’m in Columbia so it’s a pretty good haul which means I don’t get to spend as much time understanding the area like the locals so I want to learn as much info as I can on my trips. Where to get bait with a cast net, what to avoid, WHERE TO PUT IN etc. Would love to find some people willing to take me out and show me some of the ropes and just all around fishing partners. Have years and years of fishing experience just not much in a kayak and even less in a kayak in Charleston. If you are into striper fishing I can take you out on the Broad River in Columbia and put you on some good fishing. Sadly I feel the need to go ahead and state that I am half black. I’ve met up with plenty of people to fish for the first time with no problem but recently I have had 2 less than pleasurable run ins so I just like to get it out of the way before hand. You can reply here or PM me!

Which half? Sorry, I just had to say it.
It’s a shame that it should matter to anyone. I don’t kayak, so unfortunately, I’m not a bit of help to you.
Good luck with your search.

Sorry you had an unpleasant experience. Sadly, to some people, what color someone happens to be is an issue. Heck, if you like fishing, I could almost tolerate a democrat. I kayak fish and live in Columbia. Have had little to no time to fish lately but hoping I am getting to a time of the year when that changes. If it does, I am going to the coast and have space in my truck, I’ll give you a holler.

I have to warn you though, I am an average fisherman and half Irish.

I fish a lot of Saturdays during the summer months…send me a PM when you plan on coming down and you’ll be more than welcome to tag along with me.

The Midlands Kayak Fishing Club is a very active group up your way - have you looked them up yet?

lol best response I’ve read in awhile. I agree about the democrat, but a liberal is pushing it…then again, what’s the difference these days

Freedom I am always available on the weekends. Just let me know! Elgeebee I went to their site recently but all their forums and news feeds were dated back to 11 months ago. It seemed like the site went dead. Maybe they transferred over to Facebook? I’ll be sure to send you a message when I’m up there on a Saturday.

Brand new to the forum. I also live in Columbia (actually 1 mile from Dreher Island State Park next to lake Murray). Just picked up a cheap 12’ starter boat from Dicks a few weeks ago. Would love to meet up with some of you sometime and go fishing either around Columbia or take a day trip to charleston one weekend soon. I know next to nothing about saltwater fishing, but would love to learn.

I’m a local from Chapin, SC and don’t care about race, creed, or color. I just want to catch some fish and enjoy a day on the water!

— would like to connect with a few people to kayak fish weekdays on Murray, Broad & Congaree. I’ve got a 12’ Native & a pickup - so can do one leg of a shuttle.

svdrumline, I live in Columbia too. PM me if you ever want to kayak fish at the lake for some striper or in the river. I’d love to tag along or have you tag along.
