in my opinion, weight and length are just two arbitrary standards…one is not really better than the other
think about it. am i REALLY a better fisherman cause i catch a 21" that weighs more than your 24" ??? I don’t think so. I think we’d both be good fisherman… afterall you don’t chose what fish bites (except for tailing fish, but lets keep it simple…) – fishing tournaments all have a luck component, so why base the luck on weight rather than length???
there has to be a standard to go by…given that we’re not going to get into the business of hauling big redfish to the dock, whats the alternative?
weigh them for fish w/o top slots…pics for the reds…whats wrong w/ that?
!!!not trying to be argumentative, i think everyone here is making good points… talking about this will make us have a better event for everyone!!!
Stretch, you forget, us boys from Florida know how to do it up. We’re just better, not our fault just the way it goes.

well if thats not the biggest bunch dookie you’ve ever come up with!! I bet you and livestocked hold hands and talked about “what you used to do” back in Boca…
Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, “You’re next.”
They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

Not to sound ignorant, but where is Hadrells Point?
What is the range from there allowed for fishing?
The reason I ask, is there is already the BARF II get together planned for the next weekend in Beaufort, and although not an official tourney, since unable to get sponsors like all you rich people in C-Town, we are still gonna have some fun.
Already have about 20 fishermen committed for BARF II, and the possibility of having this linked with Hadrell’s Tourney is intriguing.

Hello All
Count me in for a kayak fishing tournament. My first thought to the motor boat transport issue was “no way, it’s a kayak tournament”. Then a few other options came to mind, what if all tournament participants had access to the boat taxi? Or make a rule that the boat ride is only “one way”, you could take the boat out or take the boat back but not round trip. I agree with the rest of you, keep it simple, a kayak tournament should be motor-free. Haddrells could also run their tournament with two divisions – a motor boat division and a kayak division.
Speaking of boats, what about using a “kayak tournament committee boat”? The tournament committee boat could be called by cell phone or by radio to come weigh/photograph/verify a catch? This idea could be a little tricky without GPS or use of a grid chart. The committee boat could also keep your catch on ice. Regarding photographing your own catch, what about people who have not yet invested in digital cameras? I got my eye on a nice waterproof digital Nikon, but currently I use a disposable film camera while kayaking. Or are
Polaroid cameras used?
Anyone yak fishing tomorrow (Sun 9/17)?
