Kayak FOUND (and returned)

Found a kayak today Thursday July 25, 2013. If you lost one, send me a PM. This might be yours. Found on the water in the Charleston area (Edisto to Capers Island). I have posted this message in Inshore Discussion, Kayak Fishing and Off Topic.

Here is the update: The found kayak is being returned to the person I think it belongs to. I feel 99 percent sure it the owner but, when you don’t register your boat with the manufacturer or retain the bill of sale, it’s hard to be 100 percent sure. For that reason, I have made arrangements to hand it to the police and they will hand it to the owner. I just feel better with that little bit of separation. Kayak owners, please, register you kayaks with somebody.

That’s odd. Was it rigged, like there’s someone missing, or a bare boat that might have come off someone’s dock

It probably floated off of someone’s dock. I would report it just to be safe. Kudos for the honesty.

If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.

Thanks for putting that up.
Everyone should put one of these permanent stickers on their yak.

I’m going to talk to Wilderness Systems to find out if we have a registry of boats. I know original owners can register for their warranty. I’m going to find out of there;s a way the company can log current owner / serial number info

That would be a great idea Tommy. Keep us posted.
