I know this is freshwater, but wanted to let you guys know I floated the French Broad River south of Asheville yesterday (3-4 hrs). Beautiful day, scenery, stopped and waded a few times, and the SmallMouth bite is on. Conditions are beginning to look like pre 04 hurricane floods which did a number on the fishery. Caught one that went about three pounds. Great fun.
I was in Asheville for a wedding rehersal dinner Friday and crossed the French Broad river. I have not floated it in several years but it is good to here that there is still a big fish to be caught.
It is a pretty sweet place to fish when it is on.
SS, it has been lean after 04 hurricanes, but I’m optimistic its turning around. If you are interested in a float, get in touch and I’ll let you know river conditions and possibly figure out a shuttle.
