Kayak guide for Sun or Mon

Hi all,
Headin down this weekend and looking for a kayak guide for two. Either Sun afternoon/evening or Monday morning. I have an e-mail and calls into Kayakfishsc and LC Guides. Also spoke with Fishing Kayaks SC, but he only has one kayak available.

Any other folks I should contact? Will be fishing the harbor on Saturday, and would like to try kayak fishing either Sunday or Monday.

Thanks,
Dale

No other suggestions, or are these the only guides around? Are they still in business, I am surprised I haven’t heard back from either of them. Oh well.

If I don’t hear from either of these guys, guess our other option is to rent a kayak and fish with our own rods/gear. Would it be worth it if we don’t have an anchor? If I go this route, what is the minimum equipment you suggest we bring? I don’t want to break the bank with something I am “just trying out”.

Also, if we go on our own, we will most likely fish around Edisto as that is where we are staying. Any suggestions on where we should launch?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Dale

If you are staying on Edisto, you can fish the creeks on the back-side of Edisto Island…there is a boat launch on Palmetto Road, but it is on Charleston county park land, and there is a fee (I forget the amount). That is the only ramp I’ve fished out of down there, but we’ve caught fish around there…if you are staying in the creeks and shallow water, you can make an anchor pin out of a dowel or broomstick - just sharpen one end.

For rentals, check out Time Out Sports in Mount Pleasant.

Can’t speak for the guides, but I imagine that this is their busiest time of the year…good luck!

Dale
