i fish some in the murrell inlet area, i was thinking of getting a yak. has anyone ever fished with a yak in this area or am i just wasting money and time?
I fish a yak in the inlet every now and then and love it. I don’t fish from it in the summer but in the fall, winter, and spring it makes for a nice quiet day in the back creeks. I have caught some nice trout and shallow water reds from my yak in the inlet.
I wouldn’t put a yak in that inlet during the summer. To many yahoo’s on jetskis and amped up triton king mackeral editions zooming around.
Hey Freshnsalty - I kayak fish MI a good bit, usually puttin’ in at oyster landing and fishing from around there, up toward the state park. Occasionally, I head out toward the jetties, but usually too many crazies out there. I fished several hours last Tuesday, but struck out. Had an awfully good fall last year with the reds and trout. Summer can be ok for flounder if you can get away from the crowds. Actually, most of the boat fishermen usually cut me some slack and either slow down or move over where’s there room. The crab pot yahoos, on the other hand, are a different story… Gimme a holler on here if you decide to go for it.
