I am considering one of the Hobie kayaks with the foot pedals for propulsion. What is the best way to transport this with a Prius? Please do not suggest towing as that voids the excellent warranty.

roof rack. make sure to wash your car well. Salt water dripping in nooks and crannies can make a heck of a mess.

I just bought a yakima roof rack for my Honda Fit. works well. But you need to keep in mind that these tiny cars only have about 120 lb of load capacity on the roofs. I think the hobies run 100 to 115 depending on the model.
I would also recommend the boat loader attachment for the yakima system. makes putting even a 100lb yak on the roof of your car that much easier
How can a car have such a low load capacity for the roof? If it flips over does the entire car just flatten and kill everyone?
Good luck getting a hobie from the water on top of your prius, you won’t have to worry about your warranty after much use, it’ll look like a smashed soda can.
