I was trying to determine how long of a paddle I would need. Sit on top 30" wide. The one the guy showed me just felt too short for me, it was 75".
I am 5’-7" & my wife is 5’-1", could you help me with how long of one each of us would need?
Paddles are typically measured in cm - 75" = 190cm, which is way to short for SOTs. You & the wife need 230cm at a minimum.
I felt like it would be way too short but I do not really know much about them. Thanks.
One other thing…
What is reqiured to carry per DNR / coats gaurd?
Life vest, whistle, but not sure about flares (on coastal waters) or anything else???
PFD and whistle required. At low light/night a white light is needed as well.

Get the paddle that fits you, not necessarily your boat
Boat drinks, Waitress I need 2 more boat drinks!
good videas, I did find a chart & it looks like I will need a 220cm to 230cm paddle. Thanks guys for all the help, I am sure I will be calling on you more as I get more involved…
Test different lenghths and go what feels more comfortable for you. I have a Jackson cuda and use a 220. This is too short for some people but fits my paddling style.
If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.
