Kayak put-ins

Anyone know some spots with easy easy paddling and fish? Trying to test out the new yak

Paradise Landing, Copahee Landing, Shem Creek, backside of Sullivan’s Island.

Where at in Charleston are you looking to put in?
Station 26 on the back of Sullivan’s Island is a good spot. You can put in at the Shem Creek boat landing, or Pitt Street Pier. There are also a couple of spots up 17 towards the north that you can put in at.

All of Dfreedom’s locations are good. I’ve heard the Virgina Ave is good and I plan on trying that out this spring. I also want to explore the launch off of ladson rd since I live 2 miles from there lol. Check out the app called launch sites. I’ve added a few to it like the Riley rd launch. Its good for beginners and gets shallow. Not too much room to park but I’ve never had anyone mess with the truck. Caught a few trout too. Good luck!

Al. When you fish Virginia give me a shout. I want to try it out. Heard some nice fish can be found nearby.

I don’t recommend Shem for beginners. To much boat traffic. Pitt St would be a great start. Also Copahee.

If you have a smartphone, there are a coupel of apps that enable you to find kayak landings Austin Kayak and Canoe comes to mind.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”.

Tried the Austin Kayak app, it only lists salt water locations in the Charleston area and there are a couple of launch points I have used that aren’t even listed. I guess this is a user updated app but when I tried to load a location, it locked up on me.

Necky kayak has one as well, don’t know anything about it though. There are also several “boat ramp” apps.

Riley road launch is on the ashley and probably pretty close to you. It gets shallow at low tide but I’ve made it through at dead low. go towards the ashley and once you get under the bridge their should be some trout on the out going tide. The launch is muddy at low tide.
