Kayak Rental?

Hi -

Coming to Charleston at the end of the month for a week - get to finally meet my new grand-niece…

I’m staying on the Folly R. next to Mariner’s Cay, basically right across from the public access I think. Can anyone give me some good recommendations on a kayak rental place in the area? I’d like to rent one for the week and do some fishing while I’m not spoiling my nephew’s kids. I’ve found daily rates listed here and there but haven’t seen much for longer rentals.

Any recommendations on what to rent? SOT? Have lots and lots of hours in canoes but not a ton with kayaks.

Can’t wait to get there… Thanks in advance for any information.

Rik, we (Time Out Sport and Ski) rent all sorts of fishing kayaks (and other types) for $45 a day. A weekend rental (3 days) would run $100. If you are looking for something more like a week, give me a call, we can work up a rate for you. We are located over in Mt Pleasant, which is the other side of town, but not to terribly far. Coastal expeditions has an outpost at Crosby’s Seafood on folly road, which is almost out to the beach. Not sure if they have much for dedicated fishing kayaks, but that might be the most convenient for you if they do. Feel free to give me a call here, 843 388-6266 and I can get you more info.

Definitly worth it to go check out Time Out Sport and Ski. I think (not 100% sure) Coastal out near Folly mainly has sea kayaks more in line for touring then fishing from. DolphinD can get ya set up for sure, and ya can prolly get some good local fishing info out of him as well!

I second Time Out… If I didn’t own a kayak it is the ONLY place I would rent from. DD and the Time Out boys take care of customers…

If weekly rental too much or too long; TIME OUT to far away; drop me a PM. I keep a few yaks at my place, very close to Mariner’s Cay, and folks borrow them as needed.
