Kayak Slam

I posted my report from Saturday here in the inshore reports section: http://old.charlestonfishing.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=62515
I would have only caught one of these fish if I were in a boat and not a Kayak because all but the smallest trout were caught in very shallow water that can’t be approached without navigating sunken oysters and would have destroyed a fiberglass hull. That red that I caught was especially entertaining because he pulled me, my anchor, and my bait bucket in a few circles before he gave up.
All fish were caught on the Stono where a grassy bank meets some rock structure and is close to deep water. I caught the flounder on a sandy bottom in less than a foot of water and the deepest fish would be the small trout in about 4’ of water. Even the red was hooked in 2’ of water but he quickly sprinted for deep water with me in tow.
I have been having great luck on the Stono in my Kayak lately on an incoming tide (near high) when the water is clearest. Anywhere near a grass/rock bank seems to work but having docks nearby is also nice.
I tried plenty of artificials, but nothing worked. Even dead mud minnows wouldn’t work and the fish seemed very picky that the bait be alive. Cut mullet, dead shrimp, etc. all failed to produce fish.
