Kayak - Stolen

Mods, if there is a better place for this post, please feel free to move it or delete it, tanks.

Sometime between the hours of 10am and 6pm, someone walked off with my kayak. Please keep your eyes out for a red/orange Perception America 11.0. This kayak has had front deck rigging installed which does not come from the factory. Rough picture:

I’ll offer $25 for information leading to the recovery, and $100 for a few minutes with the person who ‘borrowed’ it.
This was chained and locked to a wooden rack in the side yard along with my canoe, and a Dancer 11 I bought from too busy. They only seemed to want the pretty red one.
Hull ID: WEMGP3DOE606
Case ID: Berkeley Cnty :200907028681

Thanks.

Sorry to here about your misfortune! You might want to post it on sckayakfishing.com

Good luck

Where was it stolen from? What part of town.

Goose Creek, Sorry, that might have helped, just a bit pis annoyed right now. Mudroc, alreadt did. Thanks for the read though.

you are saying it is just like the picture, but red and deck rigging? I’ll keep my eye open at bushy and write down the hull id # (do you remember where the id was stamped?)

Yes, bright red, the hull number was engraved on the port side of the stern. It also had deck riging on the front. Took me a bit to figure out how they managed, I found the cut park of the lock about 30 minutes go…

might be worth your time to call around to the pawn shops and ask if they have any kayaks for sale, quite probably a crack-head with a pickup truck

That’s the plan for today. The cops didnt seem very interested, and took the info over the phone. At one point I got an “I dont know what information I even need from you…” so I dont expect much help there…

Very, very strange. They usually say that thieves take the easiest things to take. Like, things without locks. Cutmullets’ suggestion to check all the pawn shops is real good. Most theft in my neighborhood (I’ve lived in it for 30 years) is from the local kids. School lets out for summer and the teenaged boys get real bored. But, maybe that’s just my neighborhood. Chat with your neighbors and see if they also have things going missing. It’s likely they would like to get a heads-up about a thief on the loose. I know I would. When you catch him take him kayaking… one way.

That’s what I couldn’t figure either. Either the guy had tried before and couldn’t grab it because of the lock, or he routinely drives around with a pair of bolt cutters. They left my daughters yellow dancer (Which wasn’t locked)and took the red one. Needless to say everything is inaccessible now… Figured the lock and chain were enough… live and learn, then break kneecaps when available…

I have lots of those motion sensor flood light around my house. I always fell they help. When a cat or raccoon sets one off, I get up and look… just in case. I can almost set a clock on my neighbors cat coming in my yard. He doesn’t steal, though!

I ran with a bad crowd around the age of 12-14yrs old. I remember us stealing a few bikes and getting scared or not knowing what to do with them so ditched them in the woods. If it was little brats… might look around any trees/brush in the neighborhood.
Something else, maybe make some flyers up and drop them off in mailboxes.

Any luck Brother??? BTW Cut… you and a bad crowd when you were younger??? say it ain’t so!!!

Those who can’t fish, spend too much on seafood!

Nothing yet. Checked pawn shops, craigslist, ebay. paddle swap thingy. Put up some signs in the neighborhood. Thought I might have found it, Nature outfitters found a yak floating in shem creek. But it wasnt mine, she forwarded my information to a number of paddle sports places in SC. But until my job picks back up - I’m in the canoe, and will probably stay away from salt unless ya’ll have canoe-able suggestions on spots to fish… If there is such a thing as karma, perhaps the yak will pop a hole in between Folly & Morris island while the perp is holding onto something heavy…

Brian, check you email.
