Kayakers and pictures

I have been a yakker for several years now and always carry a camera with me when out on the water. Normally, I will carry one of those small 5 mp digitals in a good quality “Glad” sandwich bag and have yet to get it wet to the point that it is ruined. (just a few drops of salt water).
Since I have been visiting this forum, I haven’t seen any pictures posted of Yakkers doin their thing. How bout it gang? Any images to post?

Man that is an awesome picture! Where was it taken?

Matt

That picture and these were taken on one of the kayaking adventures I ‘used’ to go on to the Indian River/Mosquito Lagoon area about 3 or 4 times a year. Then the cost of gas became the primary factor that kept me closer to home. (Charlotte area). It’s a shame that it costs as much to drive to Florida as it does to stay there a couple nights.

This big ol’ manatee was just as curious as I was and actually started ‘tasting’ the side of my yak. I am glad I had a camera to capture this exciting event…

And if you are really bored… here is a mini-movie that I made of the event. Yes I ALSO had a video camera with me…

Salty,
Just moved from Ballantyne area of Charlotte to Columbia and am looking for someone to kayak fish the Saluda River for Stripers with me. You got any interest?

that’s awesome.

Which model Cobra are you paddling in that video? I have got the Explorer - it is my first kayak so I don’t have much experience but I am pretty pleased with mine.

Matt

hello Matt,
I paddle the Navigator and my wife paddles the Explorer. At about 190 lbs, I have found I need the additional foot of length to not ‘plow’ the water.
These days, I rarely go out in fresh water especially since we have a camper stored in the Charleston area. We will be heading down to the Oak Plantation Campground this coming Saturday with the Bayliner and the yaks. Gonna be a great ‘salty’ vacation.

I probably should have gone with the Navigator as well because the
Explorer does seem to plow a little now that I think about it. Ya’ll have a good vacation!
