Kayaking with bad shoulders

I have bad shoulders and can’t paddle for very long without paying the price for a couple weeks. Anyone have experience with the Hobie or other Kayaks that you pedal instead of paddle?
thanks

I have had shoulder problems and the Hobies make it possible for me to still kayak. The Hobies are a great kayak for fishing even if you don’t have shoulder issues. The ability to fish and work a grass line or oyster rake while still moving against the current is a great aspect of the Hobie.

I also have a couple of Hobie Demos that I will sale in the next few weeks.

Both of my shoulders are bad, the right is worse than the left but I can still paddle for hours of fishin. Take it easy and take your time and make sure you are paddling right. Push with your top hand and guide with your bottom hand and that saves my shoulders. If that doesn’t work look at a hobie but REMEMBER… those drive systems have been known to fail. Not very often but ANYTHING can fail, you may still have to paddle that kayak. If your shoulders are that bad make sure you have a buddy with you as well. Never hurts to have a fishin buddy close to help out. There has been a rash of people getting in trouble wiht trollin motors… motor faisl or batteries die and the yakker is WAAAAAAYYYYY beyond their paddling skills to get back. Hobie or motor, always stay within a normal area you can still paddle back safely. That being said s1tpilot usually has great deals on them peddle boats

sounds like great advice. I can do great the first day but the next day is when I pay the price as it gets inflamed and really sore. Is there a Kayak fishing club in Charleston?

More like a show up and fish group. I fish every Saturday; more if I can get away with it.
Post up here and on South Carolina Kayak Fishing and chances are pretty good that there will be someone fishing.

Motrin… before and after will help a little. I do a Ranger Candy (800mg)before I go out and about an hour after I get back in I’ll pop another… We will be launching the Charleston Angler Kayak Fishing Club real soon  but a lot of us are on sckayakfishing.com and do a lot of meet and fish events… keep your eyes peeled real soon for the TCA club. I am hoping to have the boss’ blessing and the legal stuff done soon. Free club, monthly meetings/seminars, classes, tourneys etc…

My friend Tim and I just took the plunge on two Hobie Pro Anglers and are building a double trailer today to haul them. We spend a week or so per month in Chuck Town and look forward to getting to know you guys. I will post the pics from our first trip when I get them off his camera.
