Before I bought this boat someone had run her aground. The forward point of the keel and other points on the aft keel have some areas that are ground down into the fiberglass. A couple areas are 1” across and 18” long ( no core showing ). In a couple places the keel needs to be built back up 1\2”+ I‘m going to repair these before I paint the bottom.
I’ve sanded the hull down with 80 grit……I’m ready to repair.
Questions: Can I used Marine epoxy putty to build up the keel in the worst ground down areas and then over lay with fiberglass or should I just us built up with layers fiberglass…?
On either side of the keel ( a couple inches ) do I have to sand through the gel coat to the fiberglass or will the new fiberglass adhere to the sanded gel coat…?
Will probably use PC-11 Marine Epoxy if the fiberglass can be laid over it
