keepiing fiddlers alive..

I was told to put some damp newspaper in a bucket to keep fiddlers alive....I use a very deep bucket and place it inside of a even bigger one having learned from a few posts on here:wink:....that they like to escape..and can lead to a stinky mess....

so being ever so careful I placed them in the bucket in my garage and this is what i found when I checked on them this morning..

 smart little boogers arent they:wink:

Keep em away from your computer.

As always, pure entertainment! THat’s funny! Now go and free them to search out some of those buck tooth criminals that seem to hang around pilings.

And Roo let 'em rot in the bucket! I don’t trust that dog…

Hey…you know that Whiley raccoon I’ve been trying to catch in the trap…tried peanut butter cookies…tuna…honey bun and corn…he has managed to get it all out by shaking turning the trap while not getting himself caught…hmmmmmdo you remember a month ago the varmit ate my fiddlers?..well I took five and put in a plastic soda pop bottle inside the trap after punching some small breathing holes in the bottle… Since he liked them so much i figured he would hear and see them and have to go in to get them…lol…I know…poor little fiddlers…but if this works I will free those to a nearby marsh area as thanks

I have the answer to you question! Go to Haddrell’s and they sell a plastic cricket bucket there and buy a couple. They will live weeks in that bucket if you keep them barely submerged in water. Here’s the deal, they need the water or moisture for obvious reasons. The holes in the sides of the square container give them something to climb on but can’t get out with the smooth top. Staying out of the water and just being able to access it seems to be the ticket. Too much water and they seem to secum in a day or so. Check on them daily and remove the one or two that might die as I think they eat the weak ones but its pretty insignificant. Good luck, this really has worked well for me. I keep them in my boat and they will live for weeks if you dip them in the water daily. When it’s really cold put them in the garage over night. By the way the bucket shot was a classic!
