Keeping bait alive

What is the best way to keep Mullet and pinfish alive this time of year? I have a 30 gallon MasterFlow bait tank that is insulated and filtered that I use for herring and shad in fresh water is this good enuff or do i need something that recirculates ocean water to keep bait alive?

Should be great. Those are some hardy baits right there

mullet’ll live in a bucket of water for a good while, your setup will keep them alive and happy about as long as you need

Anything that will keep herring alive will work for pinfish or mullett

Your setup will work fine. Just make sure you have some type of top or screen on the bucket or the mullet WILL jump out. I made the mistake of putting a few mullet in a saltwater aquarium I had several years ago and they found the small opening in the back of the hood where the hoses go into the tank. I found them all on the floor the next morning…so I had cut bait instead of live bait. What a goof! I had to laugh at myself for that one. Don’t forget the top for mullet!

it will be harder to keep the mullet alive for over a day because they will just hit their heads on the sides of the bucket and kill themselves. they will turn red and be weak until they eventually die.
