There are a lot of people that choose to keep the fish that they catch and there are a few that choose to release theirs. I support both as long as it is with in the law/limit. Yesterday at Paradise Island i witnessed someone fishing out of a kayak keeping what I believe to have been undersized flounder. I am not going to say who it was or what they were fishing out of. I am a really good judge of size on inshore fish and if i see you or anyone else keeping what appear to be undersized fish again without measuring them I will make sure DNR is waiting on you at the landing. I will not tolerate people who abuse our resources and I hope the rest of you guys out there on the water will do your part to protect our fishery.
You must have been in the group I saw. See my post, looking for “paradise landing flatties” he was exactly 14" inches. I measured him with a tape measure, if he was 1/8" smaller I would not have kept him. I also caught a trout exactly 14". Those were the first two saltwater game fish I have ever caught that were legal size.
Congratulations on your fish! If you measured your fish then I doubt I am speaking of you. I watched the individual take two flounder from the hook and go directly to the cooler with them. Not including my charter I counted 5 other kayak anglers On a side not, be careful keeping fish at the bottom of the limit. They have a tendency to shrink a little once on ice.
I personally, and I would tell everybody this… never keep a fish within 1/4" of the limit in either side. He’ll add shrink about 1/8" on ice and if you get pulled its their measurement against yours, and they will alwats be right. No fish is worth that expensive of a ticket
