Guys,
I can wash the sweet tea stain off my hull ('00 sea pro 180)no problem, but (**() if its not back after the next time out. Any ideas on how to keep my boat from looking as if I never wash it? Lots of wax?
Anyway…any insight is appreciated
Thx

I don’t think waxing the hull will keep the tannin stains off it. I don’t think the wax lasts very long on the hull after it hits the salt water. Using “hull Cleaner” (oxalic acid) after each wash gets rid of the stains quickly.
Yep…i normally fish the upper wando…i know that’s not going to help anything…but when I get back to the landing, most other boats aren’t near as stained as mine…
I’ll give you a jar full of Oxalic Acid next time you’re around W. Ash. PM me and I’ll give you my #. Just mix a few tbsp’s with a qt of H2O and spray it on. Wax it good after due to the OA stripping the wax off and you will be set.
you can get a quart of hull cleaner in a blue plastic bottle at wally world for under $10 bucks. dilute it; spray it on and watch the stains disappear.

thats whats you do. The wax doesnt stay long on the bottom of the boat though. The abrasion from water and salt take off the wax on the bottom and on the side of the hull where the waterine is. Put quite a few coats of wax on these areas and then a few coats of wax sealer. Interlux made a good wax sealer but dis continued it so something like rejex will suit you well on top of the wax. You will still get stains every few trips but it will be only in spots and not all over. When this happens clean areas w acid and apply more wax and rejex. It is a pain to wax the bottom of a boat and then have it only last three trips so i just wash thebottom after every trip O.A. and maintain the side of hull and transom as stated above. Just spray the O.A.on a soft deck brush apply it to the bottom. here is as link to the rejex site.
I think everyone has the same problem. I use Starbrite Hull Cleaner to get all of the rusty brown stains off. Then time for a good wax. Sometimes it requires two coats. I usually wax my boat once a year, could probably use it more often.
I just applied the Starbrite non-skid deck wash the other day. Water beads right up. I have not fished since applying so not sure how good the non-skid is going to work or how well the deck cleans up now.
Dirt and stains should just wash right off after waxing. I do find it is better to rinse the boat off at a car wash close to the boat landing. By the time I get home and everything has dried on, it makes cleaning more difficult.
I took my wife and son out tubing. My wife tells me the boat was a little dirty and needed cleaning up. I took advantage of that. Our next day off I mentioned that we should clean the boat up a little. I had a good helper. She worked on the seats for a good 2 hours.
